Watching on a TV or projector with AirPlay

You can watch dailies on a TV or projector with AirPlay, e.g. on an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible smart TV. There are two ways to start it:

From the player (best quality)

  • Open a file (see Using the file view)
  • Tap/click the video once to show the player’s controls
  • Tap/click A (the AirPlay button)
The player's controls
The player's controls
  • Choose the TV or projector

The TV then plays the video itself, in full quality, while your device shows the playback controls. This is the best way to review footage on a big screen.

From Control Center (whole screen)

  • Open Control Center (see Apple’s guides for iPhone and iPad and Mac)
  • Tap/click Screen Mirroring
  • Choose the TV or projector

The TV now shows a copy of your whole screen, Oropod’s project list, file list and metadata included. This suits showing the app to a room, e.g. while browsing a shooting day together. Your device sends the screen as a video of its own, so footage looks softer than when you start AirPlay from the player.

Tips

  • Your device and the TV must be on the same network.
  • If the AirPlay button doesn’t appear, your device hasn’t found an AirPlay receiver. Check that the TV is on and connected to the same network.
